August 24 - 31, 2008 In the land of the Navaho with Eliot (one space available)
Here are the details: We will be photographing in several unique desert southwest landscape locations: Bryce Canyon, the slot canyons of Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, and Canyon de Chelley. Navajo guides with 4 wheel drive vehicles will accompany us everywhere but Bryce where we will be on our own as a group. Accomodations are booked and a space is available in a rental vehicle. Most shooting will be early morning and late afternoon with discussions and review mid day.
Fly into Las Vegas
8/24 Meet in Bryce in the early evening for intros and organization. Stay at Ruby's Inn.
8/25 Shooting in Bryce. Stay at Ruby's.
8/26 Shooting in Bryce in the morning. Drive to Page in the afternoon. Stay in Page (Courtyard by Marriott).
8/27 Shoot in Antelope Canyon (mid day-brought in by a guide). Drive to Monument Valley hopefully in time for sunset. Stay at Gouldings.
8/28 Shoot in Monument Valley with Navajo guide Stay at Gouldings.
8/29 Shoot in Monument Valley with Navajo guide. Stay at Gouldings.
8/30 Shoot at sunrise and early morning in Monument Valley on our own. Drive to Canyon de Chelly mid day. Late afternoon - sunset shoot with a
Navajo guide. Stay at Thunderbird Lodge.
8/31 Morning shoot through lunch or later depending on what people want to do individually. I'll leave time for the drive to Albuquerque with an assumed
Monday return via Albuquerque.
The fee would be $1350 per person and includes the entrance and guides in Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, and Canyon de Chelly. Bryce admission would be handled by each participant (roughly $25 per vehicle).
Travel, hotels, car rental (there is a space in a vehicle) and meals would be additional expenses. Based on the
group rates lodging should be around $1100. As for food - I can't imagine that sagebrush salad and grilled snake can be that expensive?
