Prior to working with digital approaches I spent considerable time working with multiple exposures in camera, sometimes as many as 15 exposures on the same piece of film. Some of those images are included here along with others that have been made more traditionally. I have enjoyed and appreciated the work of Harry Callahan for many years. His sense that the camera will often find its own way was instrumental in beginning that portfolio. The multiple exposure series was also strongly influenced as I looked more and more at Chinese painting and found a very different feeling for representing space and handling tone. I find myself using color more often now, perhaps because of the greater flexibility of digital methods, but still retain an appreciation of the power and elegance of monochromatic work, which I find can be done just as beautifully as it was in my darkroom. These images are available as prints (some silver, some digital). Please contact me for additional information. |
